Mountain-Side Disposal Experts
North Vancouver is where the city meets the mountains. Living here means dealing with steep driveways in Upper Lonsdale, rain-soaked renovations in Lynn Valley, and tight laneways in Lower Lonsdale. It’s a beautiful place to live, but a tricky place to manage a disposal project.
At Trash King, we are the North Shore’s go-to bin rental experts. We don’t just drop bins; we solve logistics. We understand the difference between operating in the City of North Vancouver versus the District, and we have the drivers and equipment to handle the slopes, the rain, and the bridges.
Why North Van Locals Trust Trash King
Navigating North Vancouver isn’t for rookies. You need a team that understands the terrain and the bylaws.
-
Hillside Delivery Experts: Do you live in Canyon Heights or Delbrook? Our drivers are trained to place bins safely on steep grades, using heavy-duty blocks to ensure stability and protect your driveway.
-
Alleyway Access: In Lower Lonsdale and Central Lonsdale, space is at a premium. We have compact trucks that can slip into tight alleys to place your bin right where you need it.
-
Rain-Ready Solutions: We know it rains here—a lot. We can advise on how to tarp your bin effectively so you don’t end up paying disposal fees for thousands of pounds of rainwater.
-
Bear-Smart: If you are near the treeline in Deep Cove or Grouse Woods, you know the drill. We help you manage waste responsibly to keep the bears away.
The Right Bin for Your North Shore Project
From landscaping overhauls to basement suites, we have the inventory to match the job.
Residential & Landscaping
-
10-Yard “Rock Box”: Essential for heavy North Shore landscaping. If you are digging up soil, rocks, or old concrete, this is the only bin that can handle the weight safely.
-
12-Yard Bins: Perfect for garage cleanouts or clearing out a storage locker in a condo building.
-
15-Yard Bins: The “Renovation Standard.” Ideal for kitchen remodels, bathroom updates, and medium-sized decluttering projects.
Construction & Commercial
-
20-Yard Bins: Great for large deck removals (cedar or composite), roofing shingles, and major home renovations.
-
30-Yard Bins: The choice for new builds, demolition debris, and large estate cleanouts.
-
40-Yard Bins: For massive volume—commercial cleanouts, warehouse waste, and light bulky materials.
Understanding North Van Permits: City vs. District
One of the most common questions we get is about permits. It depends entirely on your address.
-
City of North Vancouver (CNV): If you are in the urban core (Lonsdale, etc.) and need to place a bin on the street or sidewalk, you must apply for a “Street Use Permit” from City Hall.
-
District of North Vancouver (DNV): If you are in the larger surrounding areas (Lynn Valley, Capilano, Deep Cove), you need a “Container on Street Permit” if the bin is on public property.
-
The Easy Solution: Place the bin on your private property (driveway or parking pad). No city permit is required, saving you time, paperwork, and money.

Frequently Asked Questions (North Vancouver)
Can you place a bin on a steep driveway? Yes, in most cases. Our drivers are experts at this. However, we may ask you to send a photo of the driveway first to ensure we can place it safely. We might also suggest placing it at the bottom of the slope or on a flatter section if available.
What about drywall disposal? The North Shore transfer station has very strict rules. New drywall (1990+) can be recycled if clean and date-stamped. Older drywall must be tested for asbestos. You must keep drywall separate from your general waste bin. If it is mixed in, the load may be rejected or fined.
Do I need to cover the bin when it rains? We highly recommend it. Wet debris (especially carpet, wood, and upholstery) gets very heavy. Since disposal fees are based on weight, a waterlogged bin costs you more. Tarping your bin is a smart move in North Van!
How do I keep bears out of the bin? If you are in a bear zone (like Lynn Valley or the British Properties), do not put any food waste or food packaging in the bin. Construction waste is fine, but even a pizza box can attract a bear.
