Plastics Recycling & Disposal
If you are looking to recycling plastics then you have a few options.
If you are looking to recycling plastics then you have a few options.
Because of the versatility of these materials, the ease of their production, and the fact that they can be recycled efficiently, they are used in everything from animal tags to airplane interiors. Where mass factory production was a dirty and dangerous business, the contemporary production line is composed of manned computerized and mechanical systems, strict safety protocols and the materials used are plastics. Injection molding, large part molding, structural foam, and web molding, compression, gas-assist, and others are commonplace. Trash King is happy to provide bin-rentals and storage of all cast-off materials and take them safely away to be recycled.
We have an excellent relationship with the processing plants we work with and who recycle your waste every day. We share a common goal with Merlin Plastics Supply Inc. With a state-of-the-art sorting facility in Gifford and a top-of-the-line manufacturing plant in Delta, Merlin has an impressive infrastructure. They are capable of recycling and sorting, tolling, regrinding and pelletizing, compacting and bailing, full goods destruction for foodstuffs out-of-date, or unable to meet industry quality standards. They have been recycling oil containers since 2011 keeping the materials out of landfills and waterways. We are proud to be part of Merlin Plastics’ recycling revolution in B.C.
Plastics are incredibly durable materials of which hundreds of variations exist, and which necessitate specific recycling and manufacturing procedures. Following are the seven families of plastic that adhere to an industry-standard numbering system and for which we have provided some real-world context.
#1) PTE/PETE Polypropylene (water bottles)
#2) HDPE High-Density PolyEthylene (milk jugs)
#3) PVC Polyvinyl Chloride (plastic water pipes)
#4) LDPE Low-Density Polyethylene (bread bags)
#5) Polypropylene (water bottle caps, milk caps, etc.)
#6) PS Polystyrene (Styrofoam containers)
#7) Miscellaneous (gas cans, oil containers, 5-gallon water jugs, etc. and biodegradable plastics)
Aside from #7 plastics, the rest can be recycled. Styrofoam may need to be taken to the depot, depending on what forms your local trash team will accept polystyrene.
The amount of plastic waste products humans produce in a day is staggering. Luckily, more municipalities are banning single-use plastics and state-of-the-art recycling technology is having a positive impact on our world. Quality control testing, shredding, and grinding, metal separation, binding, and packaging are just some of the necessary steps to ensure different plastics are properly cleaned and utilized. Trash King’s service ensures that once we take the waste off your hands, it gets to the factory and will not end up swirling in a giant mass at sea where it could remain for up to 450 years harming the innocent inhabitants of the ocean.
Recycling facilities receive post-consumer and post-industrial plastics. These facilities clean the waste and sort the material to prepare it for processing, usually within the same organization. Some of the products made from plastic waste include flake and pellet. These recycled plastic products are used in the manufacture of utility items such as oil containers and Trash King bins. These quality recycled plastic products can be integrated into various industries as an alternative to virgin resin for manufacturers to produce similar or alternative consumer goods. Trash King is your team of trained technicians, specializing in effectively and efficiently navigating the transportation of commercial waste.

Large food supply companies like Sysco and Gordon, as well as retailers such as The Brick, find that once their locations begin to expand, so do the size of their dumpsters. A step above the top-loading skip-style bin is the commercially sized 12 and 20-yard bins, which is a much better fit. They do not have to worry about separating the mixed plastic material because all major recycling depots have a system. Polypropylene is a durable thermoplastic polymer used to manufacture an array of products and is the erosion-resistant reason why plastic takes so long to break down. Companies like Fraser Plastics, Westcoast Plastics Recycling, and Blue Planet Recycling in the Lower Mainland must first sort and wash the material, sanitize it and melt it down at 2400 degrees before cutting it into usable blocks. Merlin Plastics in B.C., Alberta Plastics Management, The Wynpak Coalition in Manitoba, Green Mantra Technologies in Ontario, and others are all at the front lines of polypropylene recycling in Canada.
It is unrealistic to expect anyone to have a 2400 degree extractor for recycling poly but there are some steps we can take toward making our lives a little greener. Plastics caked in food or other organic matter are generally rejected, so washing your food packaging before recycling can boost recycling productivity. Assist the pros by separating what can not be recycled. Neatly place your washed and separated recycling packages in a visible location for pickup. Because everything begins with the individual, these three simple steps anyone can take for all recycling are capable of changing the planet.
