Materials We Recycle

The Benefits of Recycling

This is the only planet we have, and millions of tons of trash is being created by consumers of all walks of life, every single day. At Trash King, we are pleased to do our part to keep this world as green as possible for future generations. Recycling not only makes for a cleaner environment, sorting and properly disposing of different types of waste allows for the design and manufacture of many commodities which would otherwise have to be produced from raw materials. Oil cans, opaque water-bottles, car tires and shoes provide just a little peek into the world of items which are manufactured using recycled goods.

One of the services we are most proud of is Organic Recycling. Any yard or kitchen waste can easily be turned into rich soil, utilized to grow food everywhere. Compost is a product of green, Wood and Dirt recycling, Cardboard Recycling and Paper Recycling, and is the number one material you can add to your garden in order for plants and animals alike to be healthy. Without compost, over time gardens would be stripped of the nutrients plants so desperately need in order to flourish and we are happy to help give those nutrients back to the earth.

How to Maximize Your Recycling Efforts

People all over the planet have, over the past few decades, started to really care about our delicate ecosystems and are doing their part to ensure their health and longevity.

Blue Box Recycling Bins are just one way that citizens all across the country can maximize their involvement in the fight against ecological disaster. Whether you require recycling bins for residential, commercial or industrial purposes, Trash King is excited to bring you all the bins you need so your home or business family can feel better about doing their part as well.

All it takes to make the most out of your recycling experience is to separate, wash and sort those recyclable things. Doing a little rinse job on your juice bottle doesn’t take more than a few seconds, but it makes all the difference in the world, literally. Manufacturers of recycled goods are constantly faced with throwing material away which could have been used simply because it is caked in food or sticky with juice or miscellaneous gunk. With just a little effort on our part, the consumer, we make the lives of manufacturers easier and make the world a cleaner place to live.

Materials We Recycle

We have been doing this a long time and have served millions of happy customers all across Canada. We are happy to take absolutely anything you want to be rid of and will do it safely and effectively, ensuring that our planet is kept free from all that accumulating rubbish. We handle all forms of Metal Recycling and we take it for free, given it can pay for itself. If there is enough mixed metal in your bin, you may even see us return with some dividend for your pocket! Plastics Recycling is one of those jobs which must be done right in order to be effective. All too often, plastics are used and thrown in a bin unwashed and unseparated. We take care of all the needs of the plastics recycling industry so nearly none of your plastics will go to permanent waste. Many municipalities across Canada, especially on Vancouver Island, will not take glass products. Whether you have a restaurant or other business, overloaded with jars, bottles, plates, dishes, glasses and the like, we are happy to offer Glass Recycling services to all who require it.

Materials That Shouldn’t Be Included in Your Recycling Bin

There are a number of materials which are not safe to put into your average bin and for those times you have some trash that just won’t fly for the local collection, Trash King is here to safely take it away. Concrete and Drywall are two materials which are common to many worksites, residential or commercial. These things may be harmful to the environment if left in the landfill, so we dispose of them rightly.

Concrete is made up of some pretty harmful stuff, including lime and rock dust. When this is put back into the earth, it causes irreversible damage to the environment. Recycling concrete is the wisest approach. Concrete can be made into gravel for driveways and walks, fill for roads and retaining walls and can even be used, when graded properly, for paving stones. There are many uses for concrete so we are pleased to assist in making the most out of any old concrete waste you may find yourself stuck with.

Drywall is one of those materials which, although it is a blessing to finishing carpenters everywhere and provides a beautiful flat surface for you to paint and hang a picture on, it really is nasty stuff. The main component being Gypsum, when drywall is allowed to rot in a landfill, it can get into the groundwater, poisoning it with sulfates. That’s why it is important to have it tested, rated and disposed of properly.

We also deal with Scrap Car Recycling and Electronics Recycling. Sometimes, people have cars that just don’t work, won’t work or that the owners are just never going to get around to fixing. Sometimes, the wrecker won’t take certain cars for they are not worth the time and energy it takes to properly dispose of them. For all those moments of strife, we are here to help you get that crap off your lawn and out of your life, hassle free.

Broken down electronics, like those old computers, radios and all that extra wiring and electric boards which have found their way to the end of their lifetime need a place to go as well. Though these things may seem worthless to you, outdated and ancient, they come in handy in any number of manufacturing situations, so we get them out of your way and into the hands of the right people.

Oil and Grease are in a family of materials which are super harmful if improperly disposed of. Whether you run a busy restaurant, or any other business which makes quick use of oil and grease, we have you covered there too! Pouring oil down the drain is not the right way to go about disposing of it. This messes with both your plumbing system and the environment. Also, few may know this but, if you chefs haven’t heated your vegetable oil to its smoking point, it can be reused! It is the responsibility of all of us to treat our planet rightly, and we are always happy to help.
